we're chill

Woolly latest (from kyle):

Lily is growin beautifully. I am workin part-time at the Library and have been collecting bookmarks that I find in books.I expect to get a second job this month. We are getting more wedding contracts for this year. And we are hoping to move out this coming month. Life is a constant struggle but we usually succeed in making it fun despite that.

I have been reading “The Name of the Wind” by Patrick Rothfuss. Definitely recommend it. It is like an adult version of Harry Potter. Meghan has recently been attempting to make candles with no resources to do so and has gotten hooked on Parks and Recreation. We started up what we like to call “Thunder Thursdays” where we have friend(s) come over and we make a delicious meal and watch all the Thursday TV shows (30 Rock, Parks and Rec, and The Office).

And lily’s smile is enough to end a world war three.

Alright bye!

The wait is over!
Our little girl started her journey on Saturday morning at around 1am. We then finished that long, painful (for meghan) journey together at 4pm the same day - 15 hours later. So, with love, Meghan and I welcomed her into the world on Saturday November 19th at 4:00pm weighing in at 7lbs and 3ounces. She had the cord rapped around her neck at first, but with an amazing mid-wife to help, and God’s grace she took her first miraculous breath seconds later.
We want to thank our friends and family for the endless love and support given. We have been so thankful even though we may not quite know how to show it sometimes, we are just overflowing with gratitude. We love you.
And this has also brought Meghan and I so close together, to each other and to our wonderful Creator as we focus in on the importance of family and a powerful, sustaining God that holds it all together.
There will be plenty more photos to come, you can count on it.
Also, Lily has a cry that sounds like a pterodactyl dinosaur sometimes and it is too much cuteness to handle. Also, she has a strawberry blondish hair at the moment.
Alright, that’s the update for now. We’ll be in touch.

We have been in kind of a blur as more days go by with more job rejections stacking up. We are always keeping busy with tons of photo gigs and/or temporary positions. Yet, it’s not enough. It has been a strain and a huge test of patience. Yea, lots of promising things are going at the moment…this includes lots of waiting….and it is hard to not sound desperate to employers interviewing me. But, we understood what we were getting into when we had to leave Korea abruptly. So, it is just a matter of time, character building, and some IOU’s.

I recently submitted images to iN-PUBLiC. That was fun, because its the type of photography that really gets me pumped. You can see the images I submitted here:HERE!

Meghan is adorable as always. Here is a picture of her and our daughter:

And here is a picture of some things we miss from korea:

(driving on sidewalks)

And since tumblr won’t let me post all of my photos. I will just continue with a list:

Josh Dunn, SPALAND, Kimchi, Kimbop, Cass, the Subway, better technology, fast service, good service, good Health Care, city living, Jangsan, Acrotel, Haundae(in a nasally sounding voice), ATM machines, darts, fun-filled weekends, window sill garden, throwing paper airplanes off the 25th floor, the KTX, street food, packed streets, sticking out like a sore thumb, Hite, snow, church (both), trooper, Kimbop Chungook, Hangoul, eating.

Sorry ignored blog.

Well, it’s not a dream. We are back in the states and having a girl! We recently had our 20 week ultra sound and got to see our highly active little girl squirming and doing summersaults (I understand little one, it is my favorite thing to do in the pool too). She has ten toes and ten fingers… all is well. She did, however, have a bright spot on her heart. It is called an echogenic intracardiac focus, or, EIF. In most cases this means nothing. There are links to Down Syndrome when this bright spot is found in conjunction with other abnormalities…. which she has none. The dr. calculated my risks, and it was something like a 1 in 550 chance of DS. Here is some helpful info about the subject:

We are not worried, and we are not going to do any additional tests that could harm the baby. If our child has DS, a test won’t change that… and obviously we’ll love her no matter what. To me, a bright spot on the heart sounds kind of magical… like a twinkle light or something. Maybe we should name her star bright now:) I guess the name is easier for me psychologically, then if it were called a dark spot.
As for us… we are still regularly traveling from one place to the next chasing job interviews and going to the Dr. No job offers yet… but Kyle has been getting more interviews… he has one today! I can’t wait for the final HARRY POTTER!!! IT ALL ENDS!! AHHH!!! After that, we have a pre-pregnacy, planned trip to Hawaii with the folks! My brother David will be meeting us from Korea, so it should be a hootinanny. Also, there will be giant sea turtles.

on a better note

So our time lately has been good and simple. It is nice to be here around family and friends that were missed. People can be such huge blessings. We have jumped between six different cities since we got back: Santa Paula, Ventura, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Sacramento, Los Angeles. Such good times seeing everybody. So good. We have been keepin busy seeing people and gettin work.

Lastly, Meghan and I decided to take on the wedding photography biz full force.

So check it - our wedding photo site

run to the hills

Iron maiden describes it well....

We ran to the hills.

This is kyle. To sum things up: we were severely mistreated at our job in South Korea (consistently), Meghan got pregnant and was treated even worse - much worse. So, for our family’s own safety, we left.

We miss our friends dearly and are sad that we had to cut our time short. We are safe and cozy now in Ventura trying to figure out where to start our new family and where I can work. And of course, we are chilling hard. Thanks so much for the love and prayers. And if anyone knows of a sweet job - hit me up! Well,  just hit me up anyways! Let’s play board games!

Cherry Blossoms

Well everyone… there are cherry blossoms everywhere! And I’m pregnant. Just thought I’d sneak that in there. It’s been a week and I am still struggling with the idea. I will be happy happy joy joy soon, I think. It’s just A LOT to take in right now. Everything will change… I will have to say goodbye to new friends and Korea so much sooner than expected. But changes can be exciting too. I’m getting there!!!

What I really want to do is blog my adventures at school right now. I find that sharing them with friends turns them comical rather than horrifying. So, I apologize now that this isn’t going to be about butterflies blossoming in the spring. That’s just not my style right now.

So, here we go Adventures at Brown International part 1!

Setting: Yesterday a new class was sprung on me 30 min. before it had to be done. This class was for a new group of students from a different school that follows an ENTIRELY different curriculum. I was told to do page 52. When I got to class I found out that I needed a CD. Where is the CD? Oh… great here it is…. ok go. 15 min. into class, Kimmy Jong (code name for Director Kim) came in and stood there, like a fuming potato. This is her favorite tactic. Makes you nervous… makes you look stupid. So I kept along with class. Oh shoot, the only plug I can find is in the back of the class, I guess that’s where I will be conducting the “listening” section with my little radio. My common sense skills are pretty good. So I spend 10 min. in the back of the class with my little radio, trying to figure out what these worthless lessons are all about.

The class finally ends, I thank kimmy jong for her holy advice and I run for the hills.

Assistant Director Emily Barnett, (we will refer to her as Barny) comes to me later and says kimmy jong would like a meeting. I tell Barny that unfortunately I am stockpiled with classes until 7:20… soooo… bummer. Thats where it ends

Class ends at 7:20, I’m tired… starved.. and ready to go. So I do!

The next morning I am called into kimmy jongs for a meeting. (surprise!)

This is how it went:

kj (kimmy jong): First of all I would like to say that I am needing to say congratulations for you seem to be having a baby..

Me: Yes. Thank you. I feel tired and sick almost everyday (smile)

kj: Yes well, I know about this and this is too bad for you (snobby consoling). I am happy for you, but as director I am worried that you will be so tired, and, you understand that I need the parents to be happy with your classes.

me: of course this is how you feel:)

kj: You know, I have access to the videos from my computer right here (points to her very own computer) so I can watch all of the classes right from my computer.

me: That’s so great:)

kj: And I was so surprised because I looked at your class, and you were teaching from the back of the class! (gasp) I was so concerned because there were parents watching and what would they think!

me: Me too! I was so surprised that I was given no direction on what to do, and when I realized that I needed a CD player, I plugged it in to the only outlet available. It was in the back of the class, can you believe it??!!

kj: Yes but in this situation you should have found an outlet in the front of the class.

me: Well, that wasn’t my classroom, and I felt uncomfortable unplugging just anything. You understand.

kj: Well isn’t it so easy just to go ask someone about the outlet?

me: Yes, that would have been easy, but, my common sense told me that you would have been upset by my leaving the classroom during class.

kj: No, it would have been no problem! Why not?

me: Well you told us to not leave the class, because it looks bad to the parents.

kj: We are sometimes put in these situations, but as teachers, I was a teacher too, as teachers we must find out own way! This is why I was so shocked and disappointed.

me: ok

kj: And, last night, I was waiting and waiting to talk to you, but you had already left!

me: You understand how tired and hun…..

kj: We called you and Barny emailed you, but still, nothing!

me: I didn’t get those.

kj: Do you have class?

me: of course!

kj: Go!!!

So this was the meeting she wanted me to stay LATE for. And, the email from Barny stated that I should come in 30 min. early to have this meeting the next morning. Luckily, I didn’t get the email either:)

I thought that, at the least, they would leave me alone because I am pregnant… but it seems that they are bothering me more than ever because they are worried I will be too tired to successfully complete my classes. Thanks for the warm fuzzy feelings friends:)

Love and peace
